Welcome one and all to 2008! Another great year of training has gone by. It's a new year and therefore time for a new training "theme." We will always, of course, concentrate on the basics — distance, timing, angles, perspective, etc. In addition, we have decided to use the theme of "Less is More" this year. If you want to know more about these concepts, come train with us!
Ninjutsu is a Japanese combat martial art developed during the era of civil wars in Japan. The unique way in which it developed ensured a completely pragmatic martial art with techniques proven to work in life-and-death situations. Everything that survived to the present day was once used in combat to save someone's life. The converse of this is also true: techniques that were ineffective died with the person using them; a very final test. The result is a martial art encompassing everything from rolling and falling techniques to kicking, punching, striking, grappling, choking and escaping holds, to a philosophy of moving through life.
The Bujinkan is a worldwide martial arts organization comprised of nine martial arts traditions: Gyokko Ryū, Gyokushin Ryū, Takagi Yōshin Ryū, Shinden Fudō Ryū, Togakure Ryū, Kukishinden Ryū, Kumogakure Ryū, Gikan Ryū, and Kotō Ryū. These nine martial disciplines were combined to form the training of the Bujinkan. These schools date back over 1,100 years in an unbroken line, passed down from grandmaster to student.
Our New Jersey-based training group is dedicated to the practice of the Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu martial arts system, as well as the application of Warriorship and Life Values as defined by Dr. Robert L. Humphrey.
